ASP.NET is Microsoft's latest foray into dynamic web page servers. While it builds off of Microsoft's previous ASP (active server pages) framework, ASP.NET hosting allows developers to incorporate programming languages such as C++, Visual Basic and J++ rather than just vb script.
ASP.NET requires the web server to be running a Microsoft licensed operating system as well as the latest version of IIS. This can increase the cost of the hosting service by between five and ten dollars a month.
